The safety culture of an institution reflects the actions, attitudes, and behaviors of its members concerning safety. These members include the faculty, staff, and students in the academic community. The safety culture of an institution plays a critical role in setting the tone for the importance placed upon safety by its members. Every member in our department is cultivating strong safety culture by constructing safety management system in each laboratory, composing safety education, managing bio- and radio materials. Safety knowledge will be built year after year throughout our undergraduate curriculum and continue into graduate studies, so that upon graduation, chemistry graduates have superior safety skills and strong safety ethics. In a strong safety culture, students will acquire the skills to recognize hazards, to assess the risk of exposures to those hazards, to minimize the risk of exposures to hazards, and to respond to laboratory emergencies.
